Shows

I feel like The Blind Pig doesn’t book super good shows - am I wrong?

Eh, it tends to be “when it rains, it pours” with the pig, at least in my experience. My first year in A2 I saw Camera Obscura, Grizzly Bear/Dirty Projectors, Sunset Rubdown, and a couple of others between January and March alone. My second year I think I went there twice in a 12 month period. It’s slowly picking up again.

It may also depend if word gets out about how awful the pig is. The bass player from the Dirty Projectors once told me the Pig was “disgusting.”

i think bands have been preferring to go to the Crofoot in Pontiac. nicer venue but still gets the southeast MI crowd. maybe the pig’s management will step up? i do prefer walking to shows and stumbling home to driving 45 min to an hour.

I’m pretty sure they are stepping up. Right now, the only show in the coming months at the Crofoot I want to see is Asobi Seksu, but the Pig just had Frightened Rabbit and has the Handsome Furs, Ra Ra Riot (w/ Cut Off Your Hands and Passion Pit!), Cloud Cult (w/ Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos!) and White Lies (w/ Friendly Fires — okay, I’ve actually not listened to these two, but I’ve read good things about both). I mean, it’s not the Bowery Ballroom, but take what you can get.
